Jimmy Choo for H& M
Just when you thought H&M couldn't possibility find a designer to top the Matthew Williamson collaboration, the brand announces its latest partner in design: Jimmy Choo.
"We are privileged to be among the fashion greats who have been affiliated with H&M so far, and to be designing a collection appealing to fashion savvy, street smart women, and to be including some great pieces for men, too," founder and president of Jimmy Choo, Tamara Mellon said today. "Jimmy Choo will bring to H&M a sophisticated, fashion forward, accessible and glamorous collection - the perfect party pieces to buy now and then wear out that night!"

Not content with creating covetable accessories, Jimmy Choo will also design a range of clothing for the high street giant, which, in a change to most collections, will be created to complement the accessories rather than the other way around.

The collection, which will comprise shoes, bags and accessories for mens and women, will arrive in selected H&M stores on November 14.

Comme des Garçons Pops Up with a New Store and a New Label

The label Comme des Garcons opened two venues in New York selling its new line, Comme des Garçons Black (along with other destinations of global cool like Colette and Dover Street Market): a pop-up at Barneys for two weeks only, and a shop on Seventeenth and Tenth Avenue, slated to last eighteen months.

When it first emerged as a fashion force almost 30 years ago, Comme was the mirror image of eighties fashion: It wasn’t sexy, it wasn’t office-appropriate, it flaunted strange cuts, flaps, bulges, raw seams, and employed fabrics that formerly shrieked cheap, including the kind of glistening polyester most chic women would have declined to touch, let alone wear. But a few brave souls embraced those garments and kept on wearing them—a cult of personality that endured through the decades while Comme des Garçons and its outré ideas gradually garnered critical acclaim. And now that shoulder pads and Day-Glo orange are making a big comeback, it seems that vintage Comme may be having a moment too. In any case, Comme des Garçons Black is poised price-wise midway between the collaboration the company did with H&M last November and Comme’s main line.

The Knitting trend is back for better or for worse?
This "piece of street art" was just catched in New York Lower East Side going out of Spitzer's(Great truffle Mac&Cheese btw)! Hadn't seen one since 2007 when Knitta was on top of their phenomenon. Knitta is a tag crew of knitters, bombing the inner city with vibrant, stitched works of art, wrapped around everything from beer bottles on easy nights to public monuments and utility poles on more ambitious outings. In my opinion, it is a street art that could be used in guerilla marketing. Plus I hear some knitting classes are now very popular and trendy in town. I've heard of "The purl bee".

Cocaine Cowboys II: Hustlin' with the Godmother
Billy Corben’s 2006 documentary Cocaine Cowboys was an almost perversely entertaining look at the Miami drug trade in the 1980s. It used the aesthetics and setting of Miami Vice to explore how cocaine transformed the city, for bad and even a little for good, and made a handful of criminals into multimillionaires. If Cocaine Cowboys was ’80s synth-pop, then Cocaine Cowboys II: Hustlin’ With the Godmother is ’90s hip-hop, taking one of the original’s main figures, drug “queenpin” Griselda Blanco, and turning her relationship with Oakland, California, crack dealer Charles Anthony Crosby into a movie of its own...
Now playing in Europe! Very curious to see it but not sure I can handle it...

ANDY WARHOL Exhibition in Paris
The exhibition presents a selection of nearly 150 works among the impressive “portraits gallery” made by Andy Warhol from the 60’s to his death. It depicts a cosmopolitan and American society. This “grand monde” (or high society), fascinated by show business and role playing, is screened in the spirit of a documented report.

The exhibition covers the different sociologic categories Warhol dealt with : modern icons, historical figures, the Hollywood pantheon, major industrialists, the nightlife world.

Passionata and David LaChapelle

The world of the lingerie label Passionata is visualized by world known photographers and filmmakers:

David LaChapelle last campaign for Passionata was made of a dangerously vibrating passion which sourrounds the woman who is at the same time an innocent woman as she is a ruthless child; she is a narcissus, enjoying her own sexuality, loving herself for her appearance, her image.

Passionata Spot

Passionata and David LaChapelle have also marked the year 2008 by their performance at the Crazy Horse. To start the year 2009 well, it is at the l'Hôtel de la Monnaie in Paris, where actual famous photograph exibition takes place, that the lingerie brand presented, the 10th of February, her new collection staged by "l'œil torride d'Hollywood", David LaChapelle.

The Devil Wears Prada
Anna WINTOUR must be pleased. The new movie adaptation of "The Devil Wears Prada," adapted from Lauren Weisberger's barely skimmable roman à clef about the year she spent as the Vogue editor's assistant, not only casts doubts as to who the actual heroine of the story is, it's very clear on who's the star of the show. A serious improvement on the tantrum that inspired it, the movie is funnier and more evenhanded in its point of view. If living well is the best revenge, then being portrayed by Meryl Streep in peak comic form has got to run a close second.

Marilyn, "The Last Sitting" by Bert Stern
You absolutely need to see this exhibition at the Musée Maillol !!

Marilyn, la dernière séance brings together a set of 59 photographs never seen in France before, and taken during the to sittings that the actress agrees to do for Vogue magazine with photographer Bert Stern .

This set of photos goes beyond simple reportage and captures the fragility of the one of the most adulated film stars of all time.

New Lee Store in Paris
Two weeks ago, in Paris, for the official opening of the first Lee Jeans shop, rue des Rosiers in the Marais, TriBeCa advertisement has dressed the entire Marais, Versaille and Montorgueil neighborhood with Lee jeans! Jeans ware suspended on wire with linen, on posts, scaffolding, just everywhere!
People in the streets were given stickers with a bar code giving the chance, when going to the store that day, to win a free jean! The store was full the whole day.
For more info, see www.marketing-alternatif.com. Great example of Guerilla Marketing.

The new Kenzo store - Paris
This address, which is the first Parisian address for already 30 years of the Kenzo mark, is a place full of history which offers itself a true revival on 550 square meters. On the walls, petals take shape to form large imaginary flowers carved in volume. These corollas – coming out of Antonio Marras imagination - symbolize the interbreeding and the universe of the Kenzo house in 2006. The decoration in black and white was imagined to let be expressed the strings of colors of each new collection. At the ground floor, a podium presents the silhouettes of the season. Increased of 100 square meters; the second level accommodates the whole of the Kenzo universe bathed with light thanks to 13 large bays. Six fitting rooms are dissimulated behind doors in accordion, covered in paper like folding screens of long ago.

Those pictures are worth taking a look at them one more time. The colors, the textures and the row material are just incredible. They remind me my last vacation in Mexico.
